TRAINING PLACE HOST
The Food and Service Resource
Group runs six-month Cook Training programs. The programs are offered
for youth or adults. The training programs include theoretical and practical
in school training, as well as on-the-job training. Through the on-the-job
component of the programs, the students have the opportunity to integrate
their acquired skills in a professional work environment with the guidance
of our Training Place Hosts.
During the program, the students take Food Safe Level 1, as well as WCB
Occupational First Aid Level 1, and they do receive these certificates
before doing on-the-job training.
One of the more senior employees should be working with the student, to
accentuate their learning experience. The students are not meant to displace
other employees, they should be an addition to the regular staff. The
students are capable of doing many tasks, and we ask that they be afforded
the opportunity to work in several stations.
- There is no cost to the Facility to be a Training Place Host.
- The student is covered through the Food & Service Resource Group
for WCB, as well as liability insurance.
- What is required by the Host is to create a positive learning environment
for the student, and to provide constructive feedback to the student.
